January 6: A Celebration. A Bodega Princess Remembers Tradition, Not Insurrection is an interactive one-woman show that invites the audience to celebrate and reclaim the date, January 6th.
In the basement cafeteria of St. Nicholas School in Egg Harbor City, NJ, the Latiné community held a huge celebration every January 6th for the Feast of Los Reyes Magos. At the festivities in 1998, writer and performer Iraisa Ann Reilly had an epiphany that would change her life forever. Reilly recounts four years’ worth of celebrations, introducing the audience to members of her family and her hometown where she grew up between language and culture.
